The HBF Run for a Reason is back and it's set be bigger and better than ever! Run, walk, jog or wheel through the City of Perth with us on Sunday 27 May. #BeTheReason
We have some exciting news. The University of Western Australia has partnered with the HBF Run for a Reason to bring you the UWA Half Marathon. With a flatter course incorporating the beautiful grounds of the University of Western Australia, this year's course is set to be faster than ever before.
Choose from the 4km, 12km or half marathon and soak up the electric atmosphere on the day! You can also choose to donate or fundraise for your chosen health charity. Whatever your reason, however much you can raise, it all makes a difference.
Team UWA training sessions
“A thousand miles begins with a single step” is a famous saying from Chinese philosopher, Lao-Tzu.
Entering the HBF Run maybe your first step, but motivation to train can be the biggest obstacle to your success. You are more likely to succeed in finishing or achieving a target time if you have a run training program and are fairly disciplined in following it.
The dilemma that all of us face at some time is “doing the training” even if we have a run program to follow. Motivation aside, it is much easier to train with another person or with a group to support you on your running journey.
Join Team UWA training sessions
The UWA HBF run group sessions will provide a chance to connect with your fellow runners as training buddies and create a sense of companionship and community for race day on Sunday 27 May. These run sessions are aimed at building your endurance and run skill set to overcome any obstacles you might encounter on Race Day. Our qualified run coach is also there to answer any queries or questions you may have.
Run Skills, Drills, and Intervals
Starting Tuesday 17 April 5.30pm for 6 weeks
This session takes place entirely on Campus, meeting on James Oval. It includes a warm up, stretches, some running technique drills and is followed by interval training which focuses on developing overall fitness, speed, and muscular endurance. It concludes with a cool down. Register here.
UWA Campus Walk
Starting Tuesday 17 April 12.30pm for 6 weeks
Meet outside University Club for a great break in the middle of your day. Join in a 30-minute lunchtime walk led by a UWA Sport Fitness Instructor. The group will take a different route each week to explore the beautiful campus and surrounds. No need to register, just join in and bring a friend!
Training run along Matilda Bay
Starting Thursday 19 April 7.00am for 6 weeks
Meeting at the Boatshed at UWA the group will begin with some dynamic stretching and then run out along Matilda Bay for a group run session. All levels of walkers and runners are catered for as participants build their running or walking endurance and connect with other team UWA members. The session will conclude with a cool down. Fuelling your Body Workshop
Tuesday April 17: 12pm-1pm: Seminar Room 1, Love House.
