UWA Social Sports competitions are the perfect way to have fun and get fit while hanging out with your friends, classmates and workmates. The competitions are open to everyone – you don't have to be a UWA Student to get involved!  Check out all the action from our Social Sports competition here.

How to get involved

Registration

It's easy to get involved in social sports at UWA. There are two options:

Team registrations: Register online via the link below once registrations open
Individual registrations: Can’t find a team? No worries. Please contact us at [email protected] before Tuesday 8 June and we will help you in finding a team. Team allocations will be confirmed by Friday 11 June. UWA Sport cannot guarantee placement into a team for your selected sport/day.

Fees

Team game fees can only be paid upfront. Standard competition fees are outlined below for each sport. All social sport teams are required to pay a team registration fee upon sign up. The fee rates are:

  • $66 Early Bird – available until Sunday 23 May
  • $82.50 Standard – available until Tuesday 8 June

A late registration fee applies for teams who register later than the above dates.

Winter Break Competitions

Registrations for Winter Break competitions open Monday 17 May and close Tuesday 8 June.

The competitions run from Monday 14 June to Wednesday 21 July 2021.

Monday 6pm–10.30pm (Start date: 14 June)
Location: James Oval
Duration: 6 week competition
Team size: 7 or more people
Cost per season: $390 per team (upfront payment only)
Netball (Mixed)
Monday 6pm–9.45pm (Start date: 14 June)
Location: UWA Netball Courts
Duration: 6 week competition
Team size: 7 or more people
Cost per season: $432 per team (upfront payment only)
Touch (Mixed)
Wednesday 6pm–10.30pm (Start date: 16 June)
Location: James Oval
Duration: 6 week competition

Monday 6pm–10.30pm (Start date: 21 June) or Wednesday 6pm–10.30pm (Start date: 16 June)

5-a-side soccer (Mixed or Mens)

Rules

All social sport competitions are governed by the definitive UWA Sport Terms and Conditions. In addition, each sport has a set of rules that support the running of the competition. Please follow the link below for all the rules relating to our social sport competitions.

Rules

Forfeits
Team forfeits must be communicated with UWA Sport Management on 6488 2286, or at [email protected], prior to 4pm on the day of the competition.
  • All teams who forfeit a game will be required to pay a forfeit fee equivalent to your weekly game fee.
  • Teams who do not inform UWA Sport of their forfeit prior to 4pm, do not show up for a game, or are more than 10 minutes late to a game, will incur a penalty fee equivalent of two (2) weekly game fees.
  • All forfeit and penalty fees must be paid at the UWA Fitness and Recreation Centre reception prior to your next game.
  • For those teams who are forfeited against, UWA Sport will provide you with a refund for the forfeited game (equivalent to the team weekly game fee). The refund will be processed at the end of the competition.
Withdrawals
Teams who wish to withdraw from a social sports competition must inform UWA Sport Management on 6488 2286, or at [email protected], within the first two week of the competition (before the third weeks of games commence).
Game cancellations
All games will go ahead in rain and/or windy conditions. Games will only be cancelled by UWA Sport Management when unsafe or extreme weather conditions occur. This includes severe weather warnings, lightning/thunder or extreme heat. UWA Sport Management will inform team captains from 4pm on game day. In addition, UWA Sport Coordinators have the right to cancel games if conditions become unsafe after games have commenced.
Fixtures
  • Fixtures for the start of the season will be released the Friday before the start of the competition. Once released, fixtures will be communicated to all participants via email and will be accessible on the UWA Sport website.
  • UWA Sport does not accept game timeslot requests.
  • UWA Sport reserves the right to add and change any game times where necessary. Team participants will be emailed new fixtures if a change is made more than 48 hours prior to the scheduled game. Inside 48 hours, team captains will be contacted via phone.
  • Game fees still apply across all competition weeks, including grading weeks and team bye weeks.
