UWA Recreate Short Courses

Recreate is the perfect way to relax, re-energise, get fit or simply have a great time. We offer a wide range of sport and recreation courses, personal development workshops and tours for students, staff and the general public to come and enjoy throughout the whole year.

  • As a UWA student, you receive a 25-50 per cent discount off the community price on all courses.

  • Anyone can participate in Recreate courses, from UWA staff and alumni, to members of the general public.

Overview

There are four Recreate Programs throughout the year, with a wide range of courses on offer for you to try:

  • Summer Program (March – April)
  • Autumn Program (April – June)
  • Winter Program (August – September)
  • Spring Program (September – October)

Current Program

Our 2020 Summer Short Courses run from Tuesday 3 March– Sunday 12 April

  • Enrolments for the Summer Short Courses open Monday 3 February
  • Online Enrolments Close Monday 2 March

How to Enrol

To enrol in one of our short courses, you will need to complete one of two options:

  • Check out the courses below and click 'book now' to register on our MyUWASport Portal; or
  • Complete the Recreate enrolment form and pay in person at the UWA Recreation and Fitness Centre reception, UWA Perth Campus.

Please note: Your enrolment will not be finalised until payment is received. We strongly recommend booking and paying for your course via our MyUWASport Portal to ensure your spot is secured immediately.

Late enrolments can be accepted up until 72 hours before the second class of your course. To enquire about late enrolment for a course please contact programs@sport.uwa.edu.au or visit us at the front desk of the Fitness and Recreation Centre. Late enrolments must still pay full course price even if they have missed the first class.

Boxing for Fitness

Outdoor Bootcamp

Do you love the outdoors, but always seem to find yourself working out in the gym? Our fitness trainers will put you through your paces with light weights, circuits, body weight exercises and running all combined for the ultimate outdoor workout.

Pilates Beginners

Learn the basics of Pilates with simple stretches, mobility exercises and bodyweight conditioning to maintain a strong body and prevent injury.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

There's no better way to end your day than on a stand up paddle board on the Swan River surrounded by dolphins. Learn all the necessary skills to master Stand Up Paddle Boarding, relax, and take in the view! Participants must be able to swim at least 50m.

Surfing

Learn the basics of surfing with skilled instructors who will have you carving up the surf like a pro in no time. All necessary equipment including wetsuits is provided; you simply need to turn up ready for a good time!
