At the University of Western Australia, sport plays a central role in the lives of students and promotes a healthy campus culture. Whether you’re training for a gold medal or looking for a spin, dance or yoga class, UWA Sport offers programs and membership options to suit everyone.

Come see what all the fuss is about. Try all the best of what’s on offer this O-Week with five days of Free Play @ UWA.

Take time out of our busy schedule with a lunch-time swim, or have a go at free Yoga on the Grass; the choice is up to you. You can grab a group of mates and test out your skills in squash or basketball on one of our many courts with free indoor and outdoor court hire across the week.

What's on Offer

There are a tonne of free sessions available across the week, from group fitness classes to free court hire, and our pop-up O-Day Splash. These sessions are open to all UWA Students, from freshers to current and returning students. Remember its first come first served so get in early to secure your place!

Free Yoga on the Grass

Yoga on the Grass

Perfect for yogis of all levels, enjoy the serenity of outdoor yoga and prepare yourself for the big day ahead.

Location: Great Court South (next to Reid Library)
Time: Tuesday and Wednesday, 7:30-8:15am

O-Day Splash

Come and have a splash at the UWA Aquatic Centre for FREE this O-Day! Take a break from the hustle and bustle of James Oval and swim some laps, chill out on an inflatable peacock, or lounge by the pool. Don't forget to bring your bathers!

Free Basketball Court Hire for students

Practice your basketball skills on one of the courts at UWA Sport. No need to register, just sign up on the day at the Recreation and Fitness Centre reception.

Time: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 2-3pm

Free Boxing Fitness Classes for students

Learn basic boxing skills, increase your strength and improve your endurance through this fun and challenging class. Give this class a try for free this O-Week - No need to register, just sign up on the day at the Recreation and Fitness Centre reception.

Time: Monday 8:15am-9:15am

Free Boxing Fitness Classes for students (Women Only)

Learn basic boxing skills, increase your strength and improve your endurance through this fun and challenging class. This women's only class provides a safe space for women to learn boxing, get fit and learn self-defence techniques. Give this class a try for free this O-Week - No need to register, just sign up on the day at the Recreation and Fitness Centre reception.

Free HIIT Functional Training Class for students

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is guaranteed to challenge you physically and mentally from start to finish! Give this class a try for free this O-Week - No need to register, just sign up on the day at the Recreation and Fitness Centre reception.

Free Squash Court Hire for students

Practice your squash skills on one of the courts at UWA Sport. No need to register, just sign up on the day at the Recreation and Fitness Centre reception.

Time: Daily 9-10am

Free Strength/Core Classes for students

This is the ultimate strength workout, designed specifically to improve your power using safe and correct lifting techniques. Give this class a try for free this O-Week - No need to register, just sign up on the day at the Recreation and Fitness Centre reception.

Free Swimming at the UWA Aquatic Centre for students

UWA students can enjoy free public swimming every day during O-Week at the Aquatic Centre. Take a lunch time break and dive into the water! No need to register, just show your 2022 student sticker to the lifeguard on duty.

Free Tennis Court Hire for students - CANCELLED

Unfortunately our exciting tennis court renovations won't be ready for O-Week and we have had to cancel this event.


Free Tour of the UWA Gym

Conveniently located on campus, the UWA Fitness Centre features friendly trainers and state-of-the-art equipment. Take a tour to find out what we have to offer and sign up for a free 7-day trial. No need to register, just sign up on the day at the Recreation and Fitness Centre reception

UWA Sport’s new MultiBall system combines sport and digital games to make getting active fun! Try this new experience for free in O-Week on the only system in WA. No need to register, just check-in on the day at the Recreation and Fitness Centre reception
