College Challenge

Challenge yourself and score points for your college

Starting Monday 3 August, UWA Sport will host a series of challenges for residents of UWA's residential colleges to sweat it out and compete for the College Fitness Cup.

With each new month will come a new challenge, and individuals will have the chance to score points for their college as well as win some great prizes for themselves.

A valid UWA Sport gym membership is required in order to participate in the challenge.  

So how do you win?

Throughout the month, the current leaderboard of the top 5 male and top 5 female participants in the challenge will be displayed on the whiteboard in the gym, with the students on the whiteboard at the end of the month scoring points for their college.

  • 1st Place: 500 points
  • 2nd Place: 400 points
  • 3rd Place: 300 points
  • 4th Place: 200 points
  • 5th Place: 100 points

Challenges

August - Medball Slams

How many medicine ball slams can you do in 1 minute? 

Males: 10kg medicine ball
Females: 5kg medicine ball

Points will be awarded at the end of the month to the 5 males and 5 females with the highest number of medicine ball slams.

A complete repetition involves:
  1. Start holding the medicine ball and raise it above your head
  2. Slam the medicine ball on the ground

Participants can enter the challenge by approaching a UWA Sport staff member on the gym floor and asking to take on the challenge.

September - Bench Press

How many reps can you do?

Males: How many reps can you bench press of 75% of your body weight?

Females: How many reps can you bench press of 50% of your body weight?

A complete repetition involves:
  1. Bring the bar all the way down to slightly touch your chest
  2. Push back up for a full extension

Points will be awarded at the end of the month to the 5 males and 5 females with the most reps.

Participants can enter the challenge by approaching a UWA Sport staff member on the gym floor and asking to take on the challenge.

October - Agility Ladder Up & Bear Crawl Back

How many complete rounds can you do in 1 minute?

Points will be awarded at the end of the month to the 5 males and 5 females with the highest number of complete rounds.

A complete repetition involves:
  1. Perform the ladder drill as instructed by UWA Sport staff
  2. Without resting, drop to a bear crawl

Participants can enter the challenge by approaching a UWA Sport staff member on the gym floor and asking to take on the challenge.

Points will also be awarded throughout the month for each visit to the UWA Recreation & Fitness Centre - the more you visit, the more points you earn!

  • August - Points awarded for gym and group fitness visits
  • September - Points awarded for group fitness visits
  • October -  Points awarded for gym and group fitness visits
