UWA Sport, as part of UWA, is continuing to take a proactive approach to the evolving Coronavirus (COVID-19) health alert.

With the recent easing of social distancing rules, we continue to operate in accordance with the government's health and safety advice and are committed to playing our part in controlling the spread of coronavirus.

As a responsible business, we have taken all necessary measures to ensure our venues are safe, hygienic environments for everyone. The health and safety of our team, customers and the community will always be our first priority.

We have implemented the following measures to ensure you feel safe when you decide to re-engage with us. 

  • Cleaning more frequently
  • Staying a safe distance 
  • Limiting our services 
  • Providing hand sanitiser 
  • Offering contactless payment 
  • Limiting capacity 

We have also asked our staff to assist in monitoring and adherence to social distancing and developed safety guidelines to ensure health and safety regulations are being followed.

We would also like to encourage our community to consider downloading the COVIDSafe app which further supports community health and safety, and will allow our sporting community to make a quicker return to our playing fields, courts and pools.

Return to Sport and Fitness at UWA – Phase 3

Commencing Saturday 6 June

We continue to operate in accordance with the government health and safety advice and are committed to playing our part in controlling to spread of COVID-19. With the easing of social distancing rules, we can provide the following and access to venues and services from Saturday 6 June 2020. 

Venues

  • UWA Recreation and Fitness Centre and Reception, will be open week commencing 8 June, 6am–9am and 4pm–9pm weekdays, 6am–12pm weekends. Will be open week commencing 15 June, 6am–9pm weekdays and 8am–8pm weekends.
  • UWA Aquatic Centre, open with restricted trading hours, 5:30am–9am and 3pm–8pm Mon to Fri, and 5.30am–1pm Sat (bookings essential)
  • UWA Sports Hall, open to club and scheduled users from Mon 8 June, will be open to casual users from Mon 15 June
  • UWA Sports Park, open to club and scheduled users
  • UWA Hockey Centre, open to club and casual users
  • UWA Boatshed, open
  • UWA Watersports Complex, open
  • UWA Tennis and Netball Courts, club and scheduled users only, no casual bookings 
  • International Martial Arts Centre, open
  • Student Athlete Hub, open

All common areas will display current capacity restrictions.

Fitness (UWA Gym, Group Fitness and Personal Training)

  • The Gym will re-open on Sat 6 June from 6am–12pm this weekend, no casual entry permitted 
  • Group Fitness available from Sat 6 June – click here to view the latest timetable! 
  • Personal Training available from Sat 6 June
  • Limited trading hours, we will be open week commencing 8 June, 6am–9am and 4pm–9pm weekdays, 6am–12pm weekends. We will be open week commencing 15 June, 6am–9pm weekdays and 8am– 8pm weekends.
  • All memberships remain on suspension until Thu 25 June. All members will receive free access to the Gym and/or Group Fitness classes from Sat 6 June to Wed 24 June.  
  • Yoga on the Grass, currently suspended until further notice

We also ask that all members bring their own towel, we have a strict no towel, no train policy in place for all services.

UWA Aquatic Centre

  • Office hours, Mon–Thu, 8am–2pm
  • Changerooms, showers and toilets open from Sat 6 June
  • Pool bookings available from Mon 8 June, with restrictions
  • Morning Public Swimming available from Mon 15 June, Mon to Fri (6am–8:30am)
  • Restricted trading hours, 5:30am–9am and 3pm–8pm Mon to Fri, and 5.30am–1pm Sat (bookings essential)
  • Recreation Winter program will return Mon 20 July

Aquatics – Learn to Swim

  • School Holiday program available (Mon 6–Sat 18 July)
  • Term 3 lessons available (Mon 20 July)
  • Private lessons will be available from Mon 8 June.

Social Sports

  • Winter Competitions now available – Soccer, Netball and Ultimate available (Sports Park and Crawley Campus). Click here to register your team

UWA Kids Holiday Program

We continue to operate in accordance with the government health and safety advice and are committed to playing our part in controlling to spread of COVID-19. With the easing of social distancing rules, we can provide the following and access to venues and services from Monday 18 May 2020.

Venues

  • UWA Sports Park, open with restrictions (club and scheduled users only)
  • UWA Recreation and Fitness Centre and Reception, open 6am–9am and 4pm–9pm Mon-Thu, 6am-9am Fri, Closed Sat-Sun with restrictions (club and scheduled users only, no casual bookings). The Gym is currently closed.
  • UWA Aquatic Centre, re-opening Tuesday 2 June 2020, 6am–9am and 3.30pm–8pm with restrictions (club and scheduled users only)
  • UWA Boatshed, open
  • UWA Watersports Complex, open
  • UWA Tennis and Netball Courts, club and scheduled users only, no casual bookings 
  • International Martial Arts Centre, closed  
  • Student Athlete Hub, closed
