UWA Social Sports competitions are the perfect way to have fun and get fit while hanging out with your friends, classmates and workmates. The competitions are open to everyone- you don't have to be a UWA Student to get involved!  Check out all the action from our Social Sports competition here.

How to get involved

Competitions on Offer

There are four UWA Social Sport competitions throughout the year to get involved in:

  • Semester 1 (5 March – 1 June) *approx. 12 weeks
  • Winter Break (25 June – 27 July) *approx. 5 weeks
  • Semester 2 (6 August – 26 October) *approx. 12 weeks
  • Summer Break (19 November – 18 February) *approx. 9 weeks

    It's easy to get involved in social sports at UWA. There are two options:

    Team registrations: Register online via the link below once registrations open
    Individual registrations: Can’t find a team? No worries. Please contact us at programs@sport.uwa.edu.au and we will help you in finding a team.

    2018/19 Summer Competitions

    Registrations for our Summer Competitions are open Monday 15 October—Thursday 15 November. The Competitions run from Monday 19 November until Friday 22 February (10 weeks).

     * There will be a Christmas break in the competition from the 21st December—14th January

    5-a-side Soccer

    Men's Competition – Monday 19th November to Monday 11th February 

    Mixed Competition – Tuesday 20th November to Tuesday 19th February

    Location: UWA Sports Park

    Duration: 10 week competition

    Team Size: 5 or more people

    Cost Per Game: $60 (per team)

    Cost Per Season: $600 (per team)

    *An additional 10% fee applies to the above season cost if you pay weekly

    Netball

    Mixed Competitions – Tuesday 6-9.45pm

    Location: UWA Netball Courts

    Duration: 10 week competition

    Team Size: 7 or more people 

    Cost Per Game: $60 (per team)

    Cost Per Season: $600 (per team)

    *An additional 10% fee applies to the above season cost if you pay weekly

    Ultimate Frisbee

    Mixed Competition - Monday 6-10.30pm

    Location: UWA Sports Park

    Duration: 10 week competition

    Team Size: 7 or more people 

    Cost Per Game: $55 (per team)

    Cost Per Season: $550 (per team)

    *An additional 10% fee applies to the above season cost if you pay weekly

    Basketball

    Mixed Competition - Monday 6-10.30pm

    Location: UWA Sports Hall

    Duration: Monday 26th November to Monday 25th February

    * Basketball will have an additional week's break on the 3rd December 

    Team Size: 5 or more people 

    Cost Per Game: $60 (per team)

    Cost Per Season: $600 (per team)

    *An additional 10% fee applies to the above season cost if you pay weekly

    Volleyball

    Mixed Competitions – Wednesday 6-10.30pm

    Location: UWA Sports Hall

    Duration: 10 week competitions

    Team Size: 6 or more people

    Cost Per Game: $60 (per team)

    Cost Per Season: $600 (per team)

    Touch Rugby

    Mixed Competition - Wednesday 6-10.30pm

    Location: UWA Sports Park

    Duration: 10 week competition

    Team Size: 6 or more people

    Cost Per Game: $60 (per team)

    Cost Per Season: $600 (per team)

    *An additional 10% fee applies to the above season cost if you pay weekly

    AFL 9’s

    Mixed Competition - Thursday 6-10.30pm

    Location: UWA Sports Park

    Duration: 10 week competition

    Team Size: 9 or more people

    Cost Per Game: $60 (per team)

    Cost Per Season: $600 (per team)

    *An additional 10% fee applies to the above season cost if you pay weekly

    Fees

    Team fees can be paid week-to-week or upfront.

  • Standard costs are outlined for each sport above
  • Weekly game fee payments will incur an additional 10% administration fee
  • Registration fees

  • $60 Early Bird – available until Wednesday 31st October for 2018 Summer competition
  • $75 Standard - available until Thursday 15 November for 2018 Summer competition
  • A late registration fee applies for teams who register later than the above dates.

    Rules

    All social sport competitions are governed by UWA Social Sport Terms and Conditions. In addition, each sport has a set of rules that support the running of the competition. Please follow the link below for all the rules relating to our social sport competitions.

    Rules

    Forfeits

    Team forfeits must be communicated with UWA Sport Management on 6488 2286, or at programs@sport.uwa.edu.au, prior to 4pm on the day of the competition.

    • All teams who forfeit a game will be required to pay a forfeit fee equivalent to your weekly game fee.
    • Teams who do not inform UWA Sport of their forfeit prior to 4pm, do not show up for a game, or are more than 10 minutes late to a game, will incur a penalty fee equivalent of two (2) weekly game fees.
    • All forfeit and penalty fees must be paid at the UWA Fitness and Recreation Centre reception prior to your next game.

    Withdrawals

    Teams who wish to withdraw from a social sports competition must inform UWA Sport Management on 6488 2286, or at programs@sport.uwa.edu.au, within the first two week of the competition (before the third week of games commence).

    Game cancellations

    All games will go ahead in rain and/or windy conditions. Games will only be cancelled by UWA Sport Management when unsafe or extreme weather conditions occur. This includes severe weather warnings, lightning/thunder or extreme heat. UWA Sport Management will inform team captains from 4pm on the game day. In addition, UWA Sport Coordinators have the right to cancel games if conditions become unsafe after games have commenced.
